The Great Outdoors Marine

History Of The Great Outdoors Marine

We began in 1986 with the Beech Fork Lake Marina, a dock slip and boat rental facility on Beech Fork Lake just outside Huntington, West Virginia. Through the years, we have increased slip capacity to 283, and have a 30-boat rental fleet consisting of pontoon boats, bass boats, fishing boats, canoes, and pedal boats.

In 1991, we began our boat dealership, The Great Outdoors Marine & Sports Shop, and began selling pontoon boats and small aluminum fishing boats. As the business grew, we added fiberglass bass boats. Our business increased so rapidly that we eventually outgrew our original facility, and in 1997 we built a new building with a large indoor showroom and service facility. At that time we added runabouts and deck boats to our line up of products.

We continued to grow and in 2002, we added the number 1 selling boat brands in the country to our already excellent boat line up. At the beginning of 2008, we added on an additional building for more service space, giving us over 20,000 square feet under roof. With this new building addition and continuing education program for our technicians, we have greatly increased our efficiency in our service department.
